The Lost Adventures - Chapter 5: The Shocking Truth
by Oliver Wyatt-Burton

Emily ran outside and looked around, Oliver was sitting directly ahead, looking down at the grass.
"Ollie, are you ok?" asked Emily, walking nervously to him.
"Emily, you do trust me don't you?" asked Oliver, looking to the sun setting on the sea.
"Of course I do, what would make you think I didn't?" asked Emily, adding a short, nervous laugh.
"Harvey and I both share a curse, inherited from our ancestry, I really hoped you wouldn't have to see me like this" said Oliver ominously. Revilo and Amber had appeared behind Emily, both looking equally concerned. The sun was now only a tip above the horizon, Oliver stood up and turned to face them.
"Sorry guys, sorry in advance" said Oliver, he then collapsed on the ground, Emily gasped and the three went over to help him.

Emily checked his breathing, he seemed fine.
"Come on, let's get him back inside" said Revilo, suddenly Oliver's eyes flung open, before anyone could react, he had flung Revilo on the floor.
"Inside where, Baldy? You're not taking me anywhere!" sneered Oliver, an unusual aura about him.
"Oliver, get off him!" cried Emily in despair. Oliver looked to Emily.
"Revilo eh? The jerk who nearly killed poor Harvey? Maybe I should kill him and make you watch!" cackled Oliver, turning his attention back to Revilo. Revilo was struggling for air against Oliver's hold on him.
"Stop it, it's not funny anymore!" roared Amber, trying to throw Oliver off. Oliver glared at her.
"And who the hell are you? I never said it was funny, maybe you should mind your own business!" suggested Oliver. He raised one forearm to strike Revilo, but suddenly he was thrown aside by something dark and strong, Oliver snarled but was quickly knocked unconscious.

Emily helped Revilo up, who was coughing and spluttering.
"Where is that swine? I'll smash his skull in!" threatened Revilo, looking around and breathing heavily.
"Calm yourself Revilo, there will be no fight tonight" said the dark figure, turning to face them, revealing himself to be Harvey. They all seemed taken a back.
"I apologise on Oliver's behalf, since Lance would never say sorry" said Harvey, dragging Oliver's body towards the Temple.
"Lance? Who's Lance?" asked Amber, filled with so many questions.
"Lance is the dragon that just threatened Revilo, Oliver mentioned a curse, the curse affected the male members of our family, at night an alternate personality takes over us, it can't be helped, Oliver's alternate has decided to call himself Lance, I myself call chose the name Nightmare" explained Nightmare, placing Lance's body in the middle of the main cloister.

"So, that's not Ollie?" asked Emily, pointing at Lance. Nightmare shook his head.
"Lance cannot be controlled, his mind and Oliver's aren't one, unlike mine and Harvey's" replied Nightmare.
"Then why aren't you trying to kill us?" asked Revilo.
"I'm still new to it myself, at a time Harvey and I were separate, but since I transformed with Dusk's help, our minds are merged, we will have to look after him. Revilo could indeed have died tonight, I guess we're even now, hey?" laughed Nightmare, to which Revilo shuffled his feet.

Revilo walked a little way out and Emily followed.
"Hey, are you ok?" asked Emily, hugging her brother. Revilo looked to the sky, which was dark blue and filled with stars.
"It's been a rough day Emily, first Uncle Ixion dies, now that Lance just tried to kill me, I don't think I trust Oliver or Harvey" sighed Revilo. Emily looked back to the temple, Nightmare had just placed a large cauldron over Lance, trapping him inside.
"I remember when we were younger, the first time you saw a butterfly, you were scared witless!" laughed Emily, to which Revilo blushed and smiled.
"It was something completely new, I'd never had something fly from nowhere and land on my snout" said Revilo, remembering yelping in fright.
"You know, I think we can trust these guys, but if that doesn't work for you, trust in me, or perhaps Amber, you seem to like her!" suggested Emily calmly.
"Well I owe her my life, which was the result of another life-threatening action, and Lance did have a good point, just who is she? She's rather secretive" pondered Revilo.
"Maybe she'll open up as time goes on, well I'm going back inside, we've got a big day tomorrow" yawned Emily, slumping off back inside, Revilo following shortly after.

******************************************************************

The sun rose and all was quiet, Emily woke up,she'd been keeping guard on Lance with Nightmare, as had Revilo and Amber. She looked at the cauldron, and she saw Nightmare seemingly shrinking, she realised that Nightmare must have reverted back to Harvey!

Emily walked to her father's room and knocked. Ifrit let her in.
"Good morning my dear, did you sleep well?" asked Ifrit, returning to his desk.
"Not that well, couldn't stop thinking about Uncle Ixion, and Lance" replied Emily. Ifrit looked up in confusion.
"Lance?" asked Ifrit, setting down the quill that he had been writing with.
"Yeah, we found out last night that Oliver and Harvey's family had a curse, they turn downright evil when night falls" shuddered Emily, remembering Lance's laugh when he threatened Revilo.
Ifrit walked to a bookcase and opened a book, nodding and muttering to himself.

"Emily, yesterday an ancient dragon came to this Temple, Ixion's murderer, I didn't notice it at the time, but he looked and talked exactly like an old friend of mine called Rasler, here is his family's family tree" said Ifrit, placing the book on the table, Emily came to look.
"I hadn't heard from Rasler for sixteen years, the last I'd heard, he'd found a partner and they were expecting a child" Ifrit pointed to a picture of Rasler, a pale blue dragon with red hair, he also pointed to a dragoness called Maria, a black dragoness with pink hair.
"I never could forget Rasler, we were great friends, but at night time I had to be wary, for he would become darker, but even he was decent enough not to kill me, now going on theory here, the child could very well have been your friend Oliver" announced Ifrit, to which Emily gasped in surprise.
"But I thought Oliver was a dragon of legend, or was him dying in a spring just coincidence?" asked Emily.
"It was purely coincidence, but he is indeed a dragon of legend, as are you all, you'll see" said Ifrit.

Emily walked back into the main chamber, she could hear fainting hammering coming from the cauldron.
"Guys, wake up! Ollie's back!" cried Emily, trying to push the cauldron over, but she couldn't, Harvey and Amber helped and they tipped it over, revealing Oliver.
"Goodness me, how did all this happen?" asked Oliver, walking around the overturned cauldron.
"Sorry Ollie, you became Lance again and you almost killed Revilo, we had to trap you" said Harvey. Oliver gasped and ran to Revilo.
"Gosh Revilo, I'm so sorry, really I am, I had no idea he'd try that" cried Oliver, looking worriedly at Revilo, but he was greeted with a stern look.
"First you knock me into the sea, 'by accident', then you try to murder me and your brother makes up the pathetic excuse that it wasn't really you that was trying to strangle the life out of me!" growled Revilo.
"Revilo, what Nightmare said was true, Dad confirmed it, he knew Ollie's dad!" cried Emily.
"Shut up Emily, no more excuses! My life's been in danger more than ever these past few days, and I think this idiot should leave us all alone!" roared Revilo, moving in on Oliver, who was slowly backing off.
"I'm so sorry for what Lance did, I couldn't control him!" cried Oliver, stumbling back on the stone steps.
"Likely story, now stay out!" shouted Revilo, slamming the temple doors shut. Oliver looked at the door, tears beginning to well up.
"Maybe he's right, maybe I am too dangerous" said Oliver out loud to himself.

"Revilo! Let him back in!" cried Emily, infuriated by her brother's actions, but Revilo stubbornly shook his head.
"I am not risking my life or your lives again! I don't know why I didn't throw Harvey out with him" remarked Revilo.
"Maybe it's because he saved your life, despite you threatening his back on the beach" suggested Amber.
"Why can't anyone see it my way? He's a walking disaster and he can't be trusted" said Revilo, closing his eyes and folding his forearms. Harvey approached Revilo.
"I swear to you now Revilo, when night comes, I'll keep an eye on him and keep him under control, if anything you should thank Dusk next time you see him, he must have known that this would happen" said Harvey, looking pleadingly into Revilo's eyes, but Revilo looked away.
"Fine, you can all go and speak with him, I'm going to go and see Dad" scowled Revilo. The other dragons opened the doors hastily, but when they looked outside, Oliver was nowhere to be seen.
Big Bad Lance has arrived on the scene! But are the events of the night really the problem?

Sorry this has been put off for a while everyone! Kinda lacked inspiration for a while! Sorry about that ^^; But I hope to get this back on track again sometime!

I like how Lance is no longer an alternate form if Oliver, but rather an alternate personality. You changed many of your old concepts for the better. You have really improved on your writing since the story of the destined, every character sounds and feels like their own individuality rather than an author guessing what the character would say. Nice chapter Ollie
